How DC Byte built the remote dream team with Motion Software and got acquired by Kester Capital

Since 2019, Motion Software has been partnering with DC Byte – the global market intelligence and analytics provider. 🚀 After a few very successful years and an expansion across Europe, Asia and North America, the company was partially acquired by Kester Capital – a leading lower mid-market private equity investor.

A true collaboration with people who enjoy working together

How did everything start?

Back in 2019, UK-based DC Byte reached out to Motion Software with the aim of quickly iterating and improving their platform’s UX, its existing features and development process. Both parties worked towards wrapping this phase up as quickly as possible, so we could pursue the long-term goals of the client.

At the time DC Byte was looking to successfully launch their first SaaS product from the suite (an enterprise site selection tool for the data center sector), as well as to prepare a later move into the data and analytics space with DC Byte Analytics.

For this purpose, Motion Software provided the company with a dedicated Project Manager and a developer. Motion Software has relieved all the administrative challenges involved in building a global team, so the customer can focus on becoming the leading global provider of data, standardized market analytics and insights in the data center sector.

The UX team prototyped and designed the first SaaS product — DC Byte SiteSelector (now called Project Planner), the launch of which helped our client form new partnerships with some of the leading real estate companies in the world.

The remote team was further expanded with two more developers of high seniority and a QA. The team was working on designing and building the system that produces interactive market and company reports. Nowadays, this product gives users a complete overview of the data center industry, based on multiple external data sources and DC Byte’s research capabilities.

Motion Software eventually built 100% of DC Byte’s development team.

Since partnering with us, DC Byte has expanded its operations in multiple locations across the world. 🌍

“It’s fair to say that Motion Software were instrumental in transforming our product from the germ of an idea into an industry-leading platform. With Motion Software we have a development team which can scale headcount up and down as business needs require while retaining a core group which is familiar with our product. I look forward to continuing to work with Motion Software for many years to come and would be happy to recommend them to anyone.” – Edward Galvin, DC Byte CEO

Even brighter future for DC Byte

On December 20th 2022, Kester Capital announced its investment in DC Byte. It’s their third investment in the Information & Data sector.

“Kester’s experience in scaling data and information businesses makes them an excellent partner to support the future growth of the business and continue our mission to provide ever greater levels of insight into the data center sector.” – Edward Galvin, DC Byte CEO

At Motion Software we take great pride in the achievements of our clients and we wish DC Byte continued success in this new chapter of their journey.
